RESCUE BOAT STANDARDS

A. All Rescue Boats to be numbered with 1-digit per your station unless more than

1 Rescue Boat in your station, than use a 2-digit for the second unit.

Example: Rescue Boat 2, Rescue Boat 2-1, Rescue Boat 3, Rescue Boat 3-1,

Rescue Boat 4, Rescue Boat 4-1, Rescue Boat 5, Rescue Boat 5-1,

Rescue Boat 6, Rescue Boat 6-1, Rescue Boat 7, Rescue Boat 7-1,

Rescue Boat 8, Rescue Boat 8-1.

B. The Boat must be registered with DNR & have all current stickers needed. Boats must

be equipped with items below without being overloaded. The boat shall not exceed

manufacturer’s weight limits. Boats must be registered as an emergency boat.

C. It shall be equipped as follows.

1. Two (2) 2½-lb. ABC portable fire extinguisher.

2. 100 foot of ½ inch tow line.

3. One (1) anchor.

4. One (1) 8 foot boat hook.

5. Two (2) buoys or Dive Marker Flags

6. Two (2) buoy weights.

7. 100 foot of ¼ inch buoy line (total).

8. Four (4) boat bumpers (not required on rubber boats).

9. One (1) Coast Guard approved personal flotation device for each crew member.

10. Two (2) Coast Guard approved child's personal flotation devices.

11. One (1) bucket.

12. One (1) manual/automatic bilge pump.

13. One (1) mop or boat brush.

14. Three (3) signal flares.

15. One (1) Waterway Navigation Chart Book.

16. One (1) hand light.

17. One (1) PA/electric siren.

18. One (1) 300,000 CP minimum spotlight.

19. Two (2) 12 volt flood/scene lights.

20. All Coast Guard/DNR required warning & running lights.

21. One (1) compass.

22. One (1) depth finder.

23. One (1) pair of binoculars.

24. One (1) life ring with 100 feet of line.

25. One (1) pair of oars.

26. One (1) two-way radio to meet Kent County specifications.

27. One (1) VHF radio.

28. All equipment shall be mounted, maintained & in good working order.

29. The following items can be carried on the boat or the vehicle which responds

with the boat, but shall be carried on the boat during emergency.

a. One (1) first aid kit.

b. One (1) O2 kit.

c. One (1) Miller Board or floating stokes basket.

d. One (1) set of body drags with line.
