Tanker without a Pump

TANKER WITHOUT A PUMP STANDARDS

A. All Tankers Without A Pump to be numbered with a 1-digit number per your station number unless more than 1 Tanker Without A Pump in your station, then use a 2-digit number for each additional unit.

Example: Tanker 2-1, Tanker 3, Tanker 4-1, Tanker 5, Tanker 6-1, Tanker 7.

B. The vehicle shall consist of a motorized piece of apparatus of minimum capacity

to carry the equipment named below without being overloaded. The vehicle shall meet DOT specifications & shall not exceed chassis manufacturer's G.V.W. It must be registered as an emergency vehicle & meet all codes of the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration or its Successors.

C. It shall be equipped as follows:

  • WATER TANK

  1. Water tank capacity of 2,000 gallons or more.

  1. Tank refill of 500 GPM.

  1. Venting to be capable of handling GPM discharge.

  1. Fill tower on top of tank to be minimum of 5-in. with quick release lid.

  1. Minimum of one (1) 4 ½-in. NST gated discharge or gravity or jet dump.

  • HOSE

  1. 100 ft. of 3-in hose with NST couplings or larger hose with Storz couplings.

  1. One (1) 10-ft section of 4-in or larger soft suction hose with 4 ½-in. NST coupling on one end and local hydrant outlet connection on the other end.

  1. Same size or larger size section of LDH with proper adapters can be used instead of soft suction.

  1. Fire hose shall be tested annually in accordance with current NFPA 1962. Test results shall be given to the standards Committee.

  1. Two (2) 2 ½-in. NST double male mounted in a bracket fastened to the apparatus.

  1. Two (2) 2 ½-in. NST double females mounted in a bracket fastened to the apparatus.

  1. Two (2) combination spanner wrenches mounted in a bracket fastened to the apparatus.

  1. Two (2) LDH spanner wrenches mounted in a bracket fastened to the apparatus.

  1. Two (2) hydrant wrenches mounted in brackets fastened to the apparatus.

  1. One (1) rubber mallet, suitable for use on suction hose connections, mounted in a bracket fastened to the apparatus.

  1. Assortment of spare hose couplings gaskets.

  • MISCELLANEOUS EQUIPMENT

  1. Two (2) portable hand lights mounted in brackets fastened to the apparatus.

  1. One (1) approved dry chemical portable fire extinguisher with a minimum 80-B:C rating mounted in a bracket fastened to the apparatus.

  • SCBA

  1. One (1) SCBA complying with NFPA 1981, Standard on Open-Circuit Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) for Emergency Services, for each assigned seating position for each, but not fewer than two, mounted in brackets fastened to the apparatus or stored in containers supplied by the SCBA manufacturer.

  1. One spare SCBA cylinder for each SCBA carried, each mounted in a bracket fastened to the apparatus or stored in a specially designed storage space.

  • EMS EQUIPMENT

  1. One (1) first aid kit.

  1. One (1) each per crew member: Respirator and gloves as recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention for airborne pathogens.

  1. One (1) Bio-Hazard kit, consisting of:

a. Four (4) each surgical masks.

b. Four (4) each eye protection devices.

c. Four (4) protective gowns.

d. Two (2) red bio-hazard waste bags.

e. Ten (10) plastic trash bags.

f. Twenty-four (24) paper towels.

g. Twenty-four (24) clean towelettes.

h. Two (2) cans of foam alcohol hand scrub.

  • SAFETY EQUIPMENT

  1. Two (2) or more wheel chocks, mounted in readily accessible locations, that together will hold the apparatus, when loaded to its GCWR of GCWR, on a hard surface with 20 percent grade with the transmission in neutral and the parking brake released.

  1. One traffic vest for each riding position. Each vest to comply with ANSI/ISEA 207, Standard for High-Visibility Public Safety Vests, and have a five-point breakaway feature that includes two at the shoulders, two at the sides, and one at the front.

  1. Five (5) fluorescent orange traffic cones not less than 28-in. in height, each equipped with 6-in retro-reflective white band no more than 4-in. from the top of the cone, and an additional 4-in. retro-reflective white band 2-in. below the 6-in band.

  1. Eight (8) 30 minute safety flares.

  1. One (1) set, at least three (3), of emergency road triangles.

  1. One (1) roll of fire-line tape.

  1. Apparatus shall meet Federal DOT standards for lighting, axle loads, tire sizes, frame capacities, height, length, width, etc.

  1. Apparatus shall have warning signals in accordance with NFPA 1901 when the apparatus was ordered.

  1. Apparatus shall have an audible back-up alarm.

  1. All equipment shall be mounted, maintained and in good working ordered.

  • RADIO EQUIPMENT AND REFERNCE MATERIAL

  1. One (1) two-radio to meet county standards.

  1. One (1) portable radio for each riding position to meet county standards.

  1. One (1) current Kent County Map Book.

  1. One (1) Map Book for each surrounding county in which company respond to an alarm.

  1. One (1) Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG)

  • SUGGESTED OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT

  1. One (1) 1,500 gallon minimum folding tank.

  1. One (1) tool box with necessary tools.
