I. Purpose
To establish a standard guideline for the Kent County Fire & EMS Hall of Fame.
II. Definition

III. Policy
A. It shall be the policy of the Kent County Chiefs Association of the Volunteer Fire/Rescue/EMS Companies of Kent County, Maryland to administrate the Kent County Fire & EMS Hall of Fame in accordance with Kent County Chief’s Association S.O.G. 1-19.
IV. The Kent County Fire & EMS Hall of Fame was established to recognize individuals that
have contributed to the Fire & EMS service in Kent County.
A. First year inductees are as follows.
1. Charter Members of the Kent County Chiefs Association
2. Past Presidents of the Kent County Chiefs Association.
3. Past Chairmen and Chairladies of the Kent County EMS Council
4. Current inductees of the Kent & Queen Anne’s Volunteer Fire, EMS & Rescue
Association Hall of Fame that are members of a Kent County Volunteer
Fire/Rescue/EMS Company or Department.
5. Current inductees of the Maryland State Firemen’s Association Hall of Fame
that are members of a Kent County Volunteer Fire/Rescue/EMS Company or
Department.
6. Line of Duty Deaths of member of Fire/Rescue/EMS Company or Department
that has occurred in Kent County.
7. Any civilian (non-Fire/Rescue/EMS member) that has contributed to the success
of any Kent County Volunteer Fire/Rescue/EMS Company or Department, or
the Kent County Chiefs Association or Kent County EMS Council – may be
nominated by a member company of the Kent County Chiefs Association or
Kent County EMS Council.
B. Years to follow first year inductees.
Immediate Past President of the Kent County Chiefs Association, if not already inducted.
Immediate Past President of the Kent County EMS Council, if not already inducted.
Any Kent & Queen Anne Volunteer Fire, EMS & Rescue Association Hall of Fame inductee prior to April 2024 that was missed at the first Kent County Fire & EMS Hall of Fame induction.
Members of a Kent County Volunteer Fire/Rescue/EMS Company or Department.
Line of Duty Death of a member of a Kent County Volunteer Fire/Rescue/EMS Company or Department.
Line of Duty Death that occurs in Kent County of a member of a mutual aid Fire/Rescue/EMS Company or Department.
Current or former employee to the Kent County Officer of Emergency Services.
Civilian (non-Fire/Rescue/EMS Member or Honorary Member) that has contributed to the success of any Kent County Volunteer Fire/Rescue/EMS Company or Department, or the Kent County Chiefs Association or the Kent County EMS Council.
a. Nomination may be made by a member Company or Department of the
Kent County Chiefs Association or by the Kent County Chief Association
or by the Kent County EMS Council.
C. Nomination of Members
1. Each Volunteer Fire/Rescue/EMS Company or Department may nominate up to 5 (five) members at each nomination cycle.
a. The nomination cycle is every two years.
2. The Kent County Office of Emergency Services may nominate up to 5 (five) individuals at each nomination cycle.
3. Civilian nominees shall not count against the 5 nominations allowed for each Fire/Rescue/EMS Company or Department of the Kent County Officer of Emergency Services.
4. See Attachment A for Nomination Form.
5. Nomination forms shall be distributed by October in the year before the Hall of Fame Induction ceremony.
6. Nomination forms are due by the January Chiefs Meeting in the year of the induction ceremony.
D. Nomination Criteria
1. Life Member of your company or department and Past President or Past Chief or Past EMS Chief or Past Auxiliary President.
2. Deceased Member that was a Past President or Past Chief or Past EMS Chief or Past Auxiliary President of your company.
3. Deceased Member that was serving as an elected or appointed Administrative or Fire or EMS position at the time of their death.
4. 25 years of service and served at least 10 (ten) years on one elected or appointed Administrative or Fire or EMS position.
5. Any Member that has been inducted into the Kent & Queen Anne Volunteer Fire, EMS & Rescue Association Hall of Fame or Maryland State Firemen’s Association Hall of Fame after April 2024.
6. Any member that has served your company for at least 50 years.
7. The Kent County Officer of Emergency Services shall set their own nomination criteria.
E. Hall of Fame Committee
1. As appointed by the President of the Kent County Chiefs Association.
2. Shall meet and present a report to the Kent County Chiefs Association by the
February meeting of the induction year.
3. The Kent County Chiefs Association shall vote on the inductees by the
February Chiefs Association Meeting of the induction year
F. The Kent County Fire & EMS Hall of Fame Induction ceremony shall be during the bi-annual Kent County Chief Association Banquet.
G. Inductees
1. It shall be the responsibility of each individual company to notify their members of their induction into the Hall of Fame.
2. Inductees shall receive a Kent County Fire & EMS Hall of Fame challenge coin.

3. Inductees shall receive a Kent County Fire & EMS Hall of Fame uniform citation bar.
a. See Attachment B.
4. A plaque shall be provided to each member company/department with the
inductee’s names from said company/department for the first year.
a. Each company shall be responsible for updating their plaques for each year after.
5. A plaque shall be provided to each civilian inductee.
6. A plaque shall be provided to each company for LODD inductee.
7. Kent County Department of Emergency Services shall be responsible for their own plaque.
