S.O.P. – Standard Operating Procedures
Siamese – Adapter with Two (2) 5” Storz to One (1) 5” Storz with Clappers
III. Policy
It shall be the policy of the Volunteer Fire Companies of Kent County, Maryland to conduct rural water supply operations using the Siamese Adapter in accordance with Kent County Chief’s Association S.O.G. 1-22
IV. Operations
The Kent County Chiefs Association has purchased one (1) Siamese Adapter for each of the six (6) Fire Companies and they shall carry this adapter on their Tanker or Engine Tanker.
The purpose of this adapter is to help alleviate disruptions in water supply in the rural setting, especially when switching from Tanker Supply Operations to Dump Tank Operations
If a supply line has been laid in a non-hydrant area up a lane, street, etc. and a Tanker is the next piece of apparatus to arrive, the Tanker crew shall connect the Siamese to the supply line before it starts to supply the scene.
Use the procedure listed below for connecting the Siamese to the supply line.
Connect the Siamese adapter with the side that has One (1) 5” Storz to the supply line.
Connect the supply hose from the Tanker to one (1) of the 5” Storz on the side of the Siamese adapter with Two (2) 5” Storz
Start supplying the water to scene when the attack Engine calls for water.
If a dump tank operation is instituted, the supply Engine will connect to the Siamese using the 5” Storz that the supply Tanker has not hooked to.
Once a water supply has changed from Tanker supply to Dump Tank operation, if possible, the Supply Tanker shall remain connected to the Siamese. This will ensure that a secondary water supply source is maintained.
